Our Waiwhetu Centre is a feeder school from our Avalon Centre. See our Avalon Centre for early enrolment for children 6 months to 2.5 years.
Located at 149 Whites Line East in Lower Hutt, Waiwhetu Shine Montessori caters for children between 2.5 year-olds to 5 year-olds. Open weekdays between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, including school holidays (Terms 1–4). Closed on NZ Public Holidays. Notice of Christmas opening hours is distributed in Term 3.
At our Waiwhetu centre we have a large outside area with plenty of purpose built spaces for stimulation and exploration. Large grassed and barked areas with play structures for creative play.
Inside are multiple areas for floor play, desks for art projects and sustainable educational toys, catering to ages and abilities.
We have compiled some frequently asked questions that will provide information about enrolment, Information Evenings, different programmes and transition visits among other things.
We have a simple fee structure that reflects the various needs of children and caregivers. We require a non refundable enrolment fee of $100 per child or $50 for a sibling of an enrolled child.

Our Terms and conditions of enrolment are as follows:
3-5 years – minimum enrolment 5 days
10% sibling discount applies.
Work and Income NZ subsidies are available for families on low incomes.
* Any hours outside the above Short Day times are charged @ $60 per hour or part thereof.
**Includes the Government’s 20 ECE hours.
